If you think this is bad, you should see his morning bed head. Personally, I think he can rock any hair style and still look absolutely scrumptious.

Hooray! I finally bought a new camera and am going crazy taking pictures. Here are some very recent ones. EC wouldn't go down this twisty slide himself, and since Alec was strapped to me in his baby carrier, Nick had to slide down with him.

A little help from Dad

Would it be cheesy if I said "Life is a walk in the park"?

We love this park. As you can see, it's so pretty! We would have stayed longer but EC told us he had to go to the bathroom and the one thing about this park is that it doesn't have a bathroom. So we hightailed it home... right after we stopped to grab a pizza for dinner.

A Smile to Share

Finally! I caught a few smiles on camera and am happy to share them with you.

And my favorite:

Have I mentioned that we no longer need these?
And instead we are using these:
And this is how we feel about it:

There have been a handful of accidents (the most recent on was in McDonald's!) and I know we still have nap time and bedtime to work on but I couldn't be happier.

I'm certain it was ME who was lacking the commitment in the beginning to get this change accomplished (it takes a lot of work!), but once we hunkered down and stuck to our guns it wasn't so bad. Nick and I couldn't be more proud of our 26 month old, so much so, we're going to start potty training our 2 month old! Now that would be impressive, wouldn't it?

He's so crafty

When Ethan is in his Kid's Day Out program, he gets to make a craft each week. He's usually pretty nonchalant about his art but I hang each one on the fridge like it's a masterpiece. I hated the idea of throwing these things away because it seems so wrong, but there's no way I can keep everything! So I stole an idea from some friends of mine. Take a picture of him with his art and then tossing it.
A rainbow of some sort

Stary night with a fire

A colorful fish

Alec is the most demanding little baby I know. I have proof. Just the other day he said, "Mom, can you take a few pictures of me? Like, now?" Ummm, ok sure. Since you asked so nicely and all. Then he made me change his outfit, clean the dried milk off his face, comb his curly-Q on the top of his head and trim his nails.

Alec's words are blue and mine are red.

Awww, what a cute picture. Here, look.
Do over, Mom. This time leave the pillow out of the shot.
Sure thing, Sweetie pie.

How 'bout this one, Sugar?
C'mon Mom, what's up with my shirt? Is it supposed to look like a tube top?

Ok, no pillow in the shot and your shirt is where it belongs. Better?
My hair looks funny, where did it all go? Is that spit up on my shirt? Wardrobe change! Oooh, oooh, oooooh, there's EC. Take our picture together!

Awww, that's adorable. You guys are so cute.
Take it again, and tell EC to look at the camera this time.

Perfect. Will this one work?
Could you tell EC that he doesn't have to say "CHEEEEEEESE" every single time?
Oh Pumpkin, EC just likes to smile in his pictures, unlike some other person I know.

After I made that comment, Alec wouldn't talk to me for hours. He must have gotten over it because he asked me to take his picture again a few days later. And since he was such a ray of sunshine last time, how could I resist?

Ok, sit still honey. There, that's a good pose. Now smile.
Am I leaning to my right a little? I feel like I'm leaning to my right.
No, no, you're fine. Your head is big (like all baby's heads, don't get a complex) and it probably just feels like you're leaning to your right. Now smile!

Oh dear...
Whooaaaaa....!! Leaning! Leeeeeeaning!!

Thanks for nothing, Mom. A little help up would be great. If you'd just stop taking pictures and put your camera down.

By now he was ticked.  See:

Yes, I'm ticked, and you should be fired. Told ya I was leaning to my right.

How about you lay down, that'll be much safer.

My right side is my good side, don't you think?  Do I look fat in this shirt? I hope so.

Can I please have just one picture of you smiling? Just one?
Here, I'll smile with my eyes. CHEEEESE. That's all I got, ok?

A Pool Built for One

We have a great backyard, which is one of the perks of living in a well established neighborhood I suppose. It's pretty big with tons of mature trees and fenced off from all our neighbors. It's not uncommon for me to strip EC down to his diaper on a whim and let him cool off in the sprinkler. Sometimes he loses the diaper too, it can only hold so much water, you know.

Swimming in his Pampers.

Drinking the pool water because his drink was inside. I'm such a good mama, aren't I?

Practicing his ballerina plies, he only does this when Nick isn't around.

Stay cool!
