Becoming a Parent

I took this from BabyCenter and Nick said something about copyright, plagiarism, suing, blah, blah blah...but it made me laugh out loud and the odds of BabyCenter finding out I used it are in my favor. So here's to making you laugh out loud!

You didn't know becoming a parent meant...
  • Stacking today's unread newspaper on top of yesterday's unread newspaper.
  • Eating dinner like we're trying to break a world record for the most pasta swallowed in the shortest amount of time. Standing up.
  • Letting your partner choose between poop and laundry as a topic of conversation.
  • Figuring out how to pee without putting the baby down.
  • Wearing a bra that looks like something from a 1930s catalog.
  • Spending three hours getting the baby to sleep and then waking him up two minutes later to make sure he's still breathing.
  • Forgetting what you were...

Autumn & Art and Flight Festival

Nick and I took the boys to Autumn & Art in Bradley Fair last weekend. We weren't sure what to expect but I read that there would be fun things for kids to do, food, and of course, some art to check out. It was very hot, but we made the best of it. EC was excited to have his face painted. He chose a cat and thought that was pretty cool.

The Wichita Flight Festival was this past weekend so I thought it'd be fun to go (I've lived here for over 20 years and have never been).  I'm positive it would have been much more enjoyable if we weren't stuck in traffic for 40 minutes then schlepping 2 little kids, a stroller, a heavy diaper bag, a sling chair, a waterproof blanket and ourselves all the way from the grassy field we parked to a school bus that shuttled us to the gate and then to the area where all the events were taking place. Am I complaining? I'm sorry. Had we actually been prepared for the length of time it took just to get there we would have adjusted our load and timing a bit but it was still fun.

Anyway, we didn't stay long due to tired kids but what we did see was enjoyable. I didn't get but a few pictures because I was holding Alec most of the time, but EC really liked looking at the airplanes that they had for show. He liked the smoke that came out of the ones flying and thought the Stealth Bomber looked like a big black bird.

He took the popcorn and made a run for it!
To see some really great shots of the air show, check out Diane's blog here. Hope you don't mind me sharing your blog Diane but you have some really great pictures of the stunts!

Bubble Boy

He's a fish. He would sit in the tub all day and I'd let him if I had more things to do in the bathroom other than clean it!

The Mice Will Play

EC is having a hard time learning to share his toys with Alec, so Alec has had to take matters into his own little hands. Alec can count on EC taking a nap every day from 1-3pm, so the sneaky little devil has taken it upon himself to play with EC's things without his big brother's knowledge. Here is how he spent 2 hours of his day.

Alec always has his eyes on EC's red bean bag but always hears, "No Alec, that's EC's, OFF!" But not this time! Who needs a Boppy pillow when there's a bean bag laying around?
Unless EC notices all the drool that landed on his tools, he'll have no clue that Alec and I played with them while we watched an episode Holmes on Homes

While Alec was belting out some classical tunes, he heard the stair steps creek and thought his big brother was awake. Notice the deer in the headlights look on his face? Luckily, it was a false alarm so he went back to his jamming session.

I'm pretty sure he's thinking, "...and all I get is milk? This ain't right."

Alec has had his eyes on EC's shoes for weeks and wanted to take them for a stroll.

But since he can't walk (or stand for that matter) he chose to sit down and admire his new shoes.

Next up...the coveted remote control AND EC's sippy cup. Alec was in heaven! One more episode of Yo Gabba Gabba and he was going to puke, so he decided on something more his speed...COPS

Time to check big brother's emails. What a little sneak.

Of all of EC's prized possessions, the car seat was by far Alec's favorite, he didn't want to leave. I had to coax him back inside by telling him I'd let him play with all of DADDY's toys tomorrow. Worked like a charm, he knows Dad has some pretty cool things.

After having the best 2 hours of his life, Alec knew EC would wake any moment so he quickly assumed his usual spot so EC would be none the wiser.

Oh hey there, how was your nap? I've been sooo bored.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Or in our case, 4-Wheelers, Tricycles, and Lawn Mowers.

Before we know it, summer will be fall and fall will be winter. So we've been taking advantage of the slow to cool weather before it's hot chocolate and hearty soup weather.
